STORY OF OUR CEO
The concept of H&H Realty Group was born/birthed in 2008, after Genevieve Hanson completed her first commercial real estate project in Washington DC. However, the vision began when Genevieve was in high school. As a first generation American from Ghana, Genevieve grew up in subsidized housing while attending private schools, making the contrast between “haves” and “have nots” striking and ever-present. Consequently, her college application essay outlined how she would leverage her degree in International Relations to improve the social and economic welfare of people in less developed countries.
Genevieve Hanson has spent over 15 years overseeing real estate transactions and assets valued over $6 Billion, including activities such as planning, entitlements, design, construction, and disposition. In addition, Genevieve has more than 10 years’ experience as a strategy and operations consultant performing process re-engineering, developing business cases, creating financial models and managing organizational change.
While at Ernst & Young, Genevieve led a real estate practice focused on servicing local, state and federal government and higher education clients, where she focused on strategies to reduce costs, create operational efficiencies and monetize assets. In this role, she provide Congressional Testimony on Future of Work for federal real estate to the United States Congress.
As an Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Genevieve led the Real Estate and Supply Chain Division and Sustainability Program, which comprised of 14 P&Ls, totaling over $100M in annual revenue. She oversaw HHS’ policy, planning and transactions for over 54 Million sqft. of real estate assets, in the areas of space planning, facilities operations and maintenance, capital planning, leasing, design, construction, disposition and sustainability.
While at U.S. General Services Administration and the District of Columbia’s Deputy Mayor’s Office for Planning and Economic Development, Genevieve managed the strategy, solicitation and deal structure for multiple real estate acquisitions and dispositions for properties, ranging from 1 to 110-acres.
Also, Genevieve worked as a strategy, operations and business process re-engineering consultant for Louis Berger, Booz-Allen Hamilton and Computer Science Corporation, designing and implementing business models and organizational improvement plans in strategy, structure, processes, technology, human capital and performance measures for public and private sector clients.
Genevieve earned a B.A. in International Relations from the College of William and Mary and an MBA in Economic, Finance and Strategy from the University of Chicago. In her free time, she enjoys tennis, skiing, travel, cuisine with her husband Ken.

DEVELOPMENT
Our goal for real estate development is to promote diversity and inclusivity while providing affordable housing options to people of various income levels – low income to workforce. The impact can be catalytic and profound. economic well-being and quality of life for neighborhoods, cities, states, countries and the world improves. It involves efforts to increase economic growth, create jobs, and raise the standard of living for people in a given area. Deep collaboration between government, businesses, and community organizations is essential to sustainable economic growth.
Primarily, we seek investment into two opportunities: 1) Equity partnerships in neighborhood redevelopment projects and 2) Acquisition of value-add Multifamily properties for affordable low income and workforce housing.
